Introducing Ashlyn Herring, Introducing New Skid Steer

Ashlyn Herring • Jan 20, 2023

Herring is excited to add a new member to our equipment team! Sharon went to an equipment auction and found out how useful a Skid Steer could be for Herring. It didn’t take long for her to convince Jimmy and Jason Herring to agree to buy one.

This skid steer has many different functions. Herring will mainly be using this piece of equipment to move gravel from our dump truck to our trenches for septic fields. When installing septic fields we often need more than one truckload worth of gravel (15 tons) so we are able to handle more steps in the job simultaneously, saving time and finishing the job with fewer steps. Ultimately, this means the job is done better and more quickly with a more consistent result.

Another function that our skid steer has the ability to do is give your yard that “final completion look”. This attachment rakes out the yard and collects those little rocks that pop up and seem to be never ending. Herring will be able to get the majority of these rocks off the surface while raking the property all in one! With the Skid Steer, our customers may find it to give a nicer final grade on their property once the job is complete. You, as the customer, might also enjoy this grading technique because the dirt won't be so compacted as an excavator would. This grading tool will make the dirt lose which gives the homeowner the ability to seed their lawn right away instead of having to pay a subcontractor to fix it up. Although an excavator gives a nice final look, Herring feels the Skid Steer just gives the messy job (that no one wants) a perfect finish.

Herring will be bringing the skid steer to the majority of our job sites. It will be a very handy piece of equipment for septic field installations. Herring will also be blocking all equipment auctions from Sharon’s computer until she can be trusted to control herself.
